Lake Monduran Barramundi Kayak Trips


This is a guided barramundi kayak fishing adventure.  You will live onboard our houseboat for 5 days and 4 nights, and the only thing you have to do in this time is fish!

Trip Outline

 5 days and 4 nights in a houseboat on Lake Monduran. All meals are provided plus snacks, tea, coffee and water. I will spend time with you individually and as a group on the water showing you the techniques we use and helping you catch that fish of a lifetime.


The houseboat contains 2 double beds and 4 single bunk beds, with all bedding (sheets, pillows & blankets) included. To keep everything as comfortable as possible numbers are limited to 7 people, including myself.The facilities on board include toilet and shower with hot water. There is a kitchenette and dining area to eat and relax.It has a 12v charging system on board for charging phones and cameras, we recommend that you bring your own power packs in case you need to charge while out on the water. All meals are supplied for the duration of the trip – breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Coffee, milk, snacks and water are also supplied.There is a fridge/freezer on board as well as 3 eskys to store drinks and any extras that you would like to bring along.

Getting there & Timeline

Lake Monduran is approximately 5 hours drive north of Brisbane.  We meet at the boat ramp at 11am the morning of Day 1.  

Once everyone’s gear is loaded there is a quick safety briefing and we are on our way!

What you need to bring

Rods and reels.  If required, we have rods and reels available for hire.Life jacket, available to hire at $15 for the week.Tackle, see suggested list below.Clothes and toiletries.Headlamp and batteries as we often fish at night.


We fish the morning and afternoon bite, and depending on what the bite is doing, we may fish through the day and into the night.

A suggested list of gear includes:

Light gear 3000 size reels on 10-20lb rods. Baitcast reels on 10-20lb rods. Heavy gear 5000 size reels and baitcast on 15-25lb rods

I find the Samiki Zing, Atomic Arrows and Shimano Revolution have a good range in these sizes

 Lines: 40-60lb braid 60-80lb leader


We fish a variety of different techniques depending the bite, time of year and weather.

This is a list of what we recommend.

Your kayak needs to be deemed safe and appropriate for the trip by myself. 

Examples of appropriate kayaks include Hobie Mirage Passport, Hobie Mirage Outback or similar sized pedal kayaks in other brands.

If you are unsure or need to be provided with a kayak, we can supply a Hobie kayak for an additional fee, complete with sounder and rod holders.


The cost for the trip is $1200.00 per head which includes accommodation, food and guide for the 4 nights.
